The January 2018 team is all well-traveled folks with lots of experience adjusting to cultures and that made it an easy trip to lead.
Here we are with our safari driver, Carlos. Left to right: Anna, Cheryl, Cassidy, Kerry, and Rosalina with Ryan behind her.
During our 2 days in the Masai Mara, we saw 4 different prides of lions, lots of giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hyenas, hippos, crocodiles, warthogs, ostrich, and more. It was the greenest I’d ever seen the park — they’ve been getting a lot of rain. That’s unusual for January and it seemed localized — once we left the park, we left it behind. January is dry season, after all.
We had a full week at the primary school with all our kids — now 300 at the primary in Rodi and our new school at Imbo has over 200!!
We had fun teaching in the classrooms, playing on the playground, and just being with the students. It is always heartwarming because they are so quick to accept us and love us and want to be with us no matter what we’re doing.
Ryan and Mark teach the 8th grade from a book on idomatic expressions. (Good luck with that!!)
Kerry reads a story to the 2nd graders.
