Samwel Briton

8th Grade Graduates of 2018 (Rodi)

Samwel came to Achungo last year (2017) to learn and “get some religion.”  His parents died from illness when he was 9 and he has since lived with his uncle, his older brother, and two younger sisters about 4km from Achungo.  His uncle also has 5 children, 2 boys and 3 girls with the oldest a sophomore in high school.

Before Achungo he attended Oneno Primary School, but he performed poorly in math.  Here the teachers “teach good, not like the other school” and he continues to improve his math scores.  Math is now his favorite subject.

When not in school he helps with their garden, growing maize and millet for the family to eat.  He likes football (soccer) and volleyball (he is tall and good at it) and reading.  His favorite day is Christmas because of the celebration at his church.

Samwel wants to study business and to become a lawyer after his studies in a good university or maybe a medical doctor to fulfill the dream of his father (his father was training to become a doctor).  Then he will be able to help his younger sisters like his father would have done.
