8th Grade Graduates of 2022 December (Imbo)

I came to Achungo 3 years ago after attending a public school. At that school, things were so difficult and we would be sent home when we didn’t have school fees. At Achungo I am more free and more comfortable both in class and doing activities. It is much better than the first school I attended. I love Achungo because the teachers here give us equal opportunities to do activities and we are given chances to use our talents.

I came to Homa Bay during holidays to visit my aunt and help her and met the director of Achungo when I was selling water beside the road. He brought me to Achungo and bought me the uniform and books that I needed. I was so happy to join a better school. Achungo is the best school I have ever seen. Here the teachers teach us in a fantastic way. They teach us how to behave around the society and how to live with other people. It is different from any other school. The school I was at before sent us home for lunch. Sometimes we would have nothing and go back to school without food. Here we are given everything we need.

I live in Gwassi with my parents. They do not have a nice job to provide for our daily needs but struggle every day to look for food. They look for work to get us something to eat and a place to stay. I have an older brother and a younger sister.

I love playing football and netball with my friends. At break time we look for story books and we read together. When I’m home I look for ways to help the old people and those people with special needs. I also help my parents with house chores.

After my education I want to become a doctor in order to help people who are in pain. I feel very sad when I see how young children suffer with different diseases. They die from very dangerous diseases that do not have a cure or because they lack money. So I would like to set up a hospital where people are given free treatment. I would really be happy to see people stop suffering and live with happiness in their families.
