8th Grade Graduates of 2022 December (Imbo)

I started school in Awendo where I was living with my father. He grows vegetables in our garden, like tomatoes, onions, maize and other vegetables, but sometimes there’s no rain and we struggle to have any food. Sometimes we would go to bed without eating anything and we would pray for God to help us. We are four children – I have 3 brothers, Ian John, Richard, and Humphrey.

One day I told my father that I wanted to live with my grandmother in Homa Bay and he put me on a bus to Homa Bay. My grandmother met me and I was so happy. My grandmother told me about Achungo. When I came to Achungo the school was so beautiful, with the flowers and the teachers and students looking so beautiful.

My best friend is Rosemary, also in class 7. We love each other and we like football (soccer). During free time we read together and help each other understand the books. When one of us has a problem, we solve the problem together. On Sundays we go to church and sing and pray and read the Bible, and pray for our teachers, our parents and our fellow students. We are taught in church and in class that God likes those who play together. On holidays I visit my father and that makes him very happy and me, too.

After my education I want to become a doctor or a teacher so that I can help my brothers and father and make them happy people again in their lives. We get that in the Bible that God is happy when we are happy. Also we are to help the poor and those who cannot get the food for their daily living. It is painful for God to see someone suffering.

I thank god for AEC, our school and our teachers and I am praying that God will hear my prayers. I want to be a good person in the years to come and have a life like I’ve never had.
