George Okoth

8th Grade Graduates of 2022 December (Imbo)

I live with my two parents at home and we are really suffering to get just a little food. But my parents have hope that one day I will remove them from darkness. My brother brought me to Achungo in 2017 because my mother was hopeless. Director Michael Ojala decided to help us and we thanked him a lot. My mother is 35 years old and my father is 67 years old and I have my two sisters and two brothers.

At Achungo we have a good balanced diet and the teachers are well trained and equip us well. It is among the best schools in our county. I scored 420 and my parents appreciated it. My mother reminds me to keep working hard even though we don’t have food to eat or light at home. My parents aren’t working but they wash clothes for others to get some shillings. We don’t have a garden to cultivate but we have hope. At home I like fetching water for my grandmother and cleaning around our compound and helping my mother wash clothes for others to get money for survival.

When I grow up and get a job, I want to give money to our director to continue building our school and making new developments at Achungo. Achungo is the very best because of their good teachers and has scores that are higher than in the public schools.

After completing my education, I would like to be an engineer to help my parents and our community in the future. I want to be an engineer because I am best in science and understand it very well. I will put God first in all my activity. Being poor does not matter. Education is the key to success.
