“I come from a poor family and live with my grandparents who only have a small garden plot. My grandfather is 81 and my grandmother is 67. I have 3 siblings, George is in preschool, Lewis is in 1st grade and Joy Lavine is in class 3. They only have torn clothes to wear when they go to school. That is a hardship because they want to wear their best clothes to school.
“I had been attending Victory Primary when my grandmother heard about Achungo and brought me here 6 years ago (into 1st grade) through God’s mercy. Achungo is a much better school than Victory and student performance is better. Achungo needs people to support it because many children are orphans and cannot buy things needed for school.
“My favorite sport is running. I want to be an athlete and footballer. My best friend is George who is also an orphan. At school we study hard and when we are at home we go to someone’s farm to work and we clean the market so that we can get money to buy pencils, erasers, razors and some storybooks. During breaks we play football and run with other students.
“After my education I want to become a scientist so that I can help my grandparents and build them a house because we live in a hut. I would like to drill a water well in our community because water is kilometers away from our home and I want to help our community have electricity.”
