Monte Fisher grew up in Palo Alto, California, eventually completing a computer science degree and spending almost 25 years in software (development, consulting, professional services) at many well-known technology companies before finding his real career with Achungo. He is married to Kathy and their somewhat dispersed household includes Aaron, Ryan, Jason and Katya.
As part of his early college studies, Monte lived in Kenya for 8 months and fell in love with the land and the people. Over the years he has served as Deacon and Elder at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church and is currently on staff as Director of Care and Recovery. He has long been involved in a wide variety of community service activities in the Bay Area and in Juarez and Mexicali, Mexico.
Monte heard about Achungo from a notice of Barbara Jeanrenaud’s health-related retirement. He dearly loves these almost 1,000 children ages 2 to 20+ who truly have nothing and he wants to do whatever he can to give them hope and health and opportunity. Monte leads teams of volunteers out to the Center in Kenya twice each year–every January and June. Join us sometime!
