8th Grade Graduates of 2022 December (Imbo)

I came to Achungo one year ago having heard about it from my friend Sheril Naiger after my grandmother died. Before that I was learning at Kawere Togo Academy. At that school we would not even finish the syllabus but now things are better. At Achungo I have learned that every child is an achiever. I know that I will score well on my national exam next year. I think that the Almighty Father in haven is with us and everything will be okay.

I live with my mother, Mary Akinyi Kasera and have 6 siblings, Lawrence, Paul, Maureen, Beryl, Stephen, and Night. My father died when I was two and I don’t remember much about him. When I was in 6th grade my mother told me that my father had died of HIV/AIDS. During the holidays I help my mother in the garden and after that we look for food. Both my sisters and brothers are still young and they can’t really help. My elder brother is addicted to alcohol and has nothing. He left his education because he had nothing to sell in order to continue learning and pay the fees. He tells me that when he was in class 6 and studying hard and wanted to be a pilot, but by bad luck he did not have the school fees to continue. So he left school and started to steal people’s property to get money to buy a glass of alcohol every day.

My favorite sports are football, where I’m usually a defender, and netball, where I always score the goals. During leisure time I usually do topic review with my friend Sheril, and during breaks I practice football and netball.

After education I want to be a footballer like Diego Coaster and the rest. The reason is to get my own money and help my younger brothers and sisters so they can also get an education and have something in their lives. Also so that we can help our mother who is a farmer (lives off the family garden) to be able to live like other people, whether they are single mothers or not.
