I came to Achungo 2 years ago after attending public school in Motundu. There was not enough education there and sometimes I was sent home because I didn’t have school fees. In that school you might be taught two subjects in a day but at Achungo you are taught seven subjects every day. I immediately found Achungo more interesting and that the students were very happy.
I come from Siaya County but when the Achungo Director found me, I came with him to HomaBay county and now I stay with my aunt in Homabay. My parents are alive but have no jobs or even a farm plot so we struggle to have food at home. That is why I study hard to help my poor family who cannot earn a living or provide for the family. I have 4 siblings, Maurice, John, Denzel and Seline.
The best thing about Achungo is that they offer free education to children like the street children and the orphans. Achungo is my school because teachers here help children in many ways, like how to behave in the society and how to respect your elders. Achungo is different from other schools because it is an academy school but free education is provided. In other schools there is no free education.
Our teachers teach us on the right ways to behave so that you cannot find yourself in bad behavior and engage yourself in dangerous things. My favorite game is football because I have seen footballers on television and how they enjoy the game and can earn a living doing that. My best friend is Mitchelle because she is polite and honest. We study together and when we take tests we are always at the top. During break we play games or read storybooks and enjoy ourselves. At home on holidays, I help my parents with housework and tell stories that give us advice to help with our future. We visit older people and help them by fetching water, washing their clothes and cooking for them.
After my education I want to become a lawyer because I want to see people being judged fairly and to see people enjoying their rights as human beings. I would treat people equally and in a right way. Those who have been jailed but are innocent will be removed from prison. I will also help those whose property has been taken by the law and treat them fairly. I will support those people who are being accused falsely. I would not like to see people being treated unfairly. I would like to see all Kenyans happy and living a sustainable life. I hope that if I study hard and get a scholarship for free education, my dreams can come true. I would appreciate myself for all the hard work and would support my family and other people.
