I had been attending a public school in Kisumu and then moved back to Homa Bay County. I had heard of Achungo and told my parents but they had no money for me to attend a private school. I started selling oranges in the market so that I could come to Achungo Educational Centre, and one day, Michael Ojalla, the director of Achungo, saw me and asked where I was going to school. I told him that I was working to be able to go to a private school. He promised to educate me as long as I was ready to learn. That’s how I came to AEC two years ago. AEC is the best school I have ever seen. The teachers are understanding, kind and God-fearing. I think at AEC I can get all the education I deserve. This school is very different from all other schools in Kenya.
I live in Gem, a ward near the school, with my parents. My father works on farms but my mother has no work. Now my parents don’t struggle to try to pay school fees because me and my siblings are sponsored in school by different people. My parents are able to work our farm plot for food and clothes. When I am home on holidays I help my parents with the farming.
My favorite sport is football. My best friend is Mitchelle Atieno. She is the Deputy Class President. We always read books together, dance sometimes, play and sing. But we have funny personalities that we sometimes fight and quarrel.
After my education I want to become a doctor so that I can treat the sick whether they have money or not, and help the street children.
