Buong Rollince Ochieng

8th Grade Graduates of 2019 (Rodi)

Initially, Buong Rollince attended primary near Imbo (4 miles away) until second grade, in 2012.  That was when his parents moved to Nairobi and he stayed behind with his grandmother.  He lives with her in Rangwe (about 4 miles away).  His siblings, Brighton (3), Mary (5), and Violet (12) live in Nairobi with his father and mother. “My favorite day was when my parents came to visit me.  Sometimes over the holidays I’ll go to visit them.

In 2012 he was enrolled at Rodi Primary and then in 2019 his mother brought him to Achungo to join our 8th grade.  He told us the public primary he attended was very dirty, but Achungo classrooms are clean and student performance is much better.  He likes how “the teachers here do a much better job than my previous school.  I really like Achungo and I like the teachers.”

His favorite subjects are Math and Science.  “I am performing well in school now.”  He wants to become a pilot or an accountant.  He says, “flying would be fun” but as an accountant “I would be able to interact with a lot of people.”   Apparently his father works with accountants.

He enjoys football, and volleyball, reading storybooks and visiting with his friends and “on holidays I like to help my grandmother in the garden, fetch water and firewood, and wash clothes.”

“Please pray for me because I am going to sit for my KCPE this year.”
